GenoHotel Karlsruhe
Located in the countryside on the outskirts of Karlsruhe, the GenoHotel Karlsruhe combines relaxed meetings, delicious food, and sustainable accommodation. The hotel is part of the meeting center of the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative Association and sees itself as a modern venue for conferences. It has 86 rooms, spacious event rooms, and an extensive restaurant area that welcomes guests and seminar participants alike. Here, function meets atmosphere: bright rooms, natural materials, and an interior design concept that harmonizes quality and well-being.
The feco team was commissioned to redesign the restaurant. Furniture from Thonet, a feco brand partner that has been making design history for over 200 years, was used. Like no other, the brand stands for the combination of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design. This expertise has its origins in European coffee house culture and can still be felt today in restaurants around the world.
Two chair models from Thonet are used at the GenoHotel Karlsruhe, continuing this tradition while offering modern functionality. The 404 SP, designed by Stefan Diez, revisits the brand’s bentwood iconography. Its design appears organic and inviting, while the warm wood look visually unifies the space. The furnishings are complemented by the S 220 SP, a further development of the classic shell chair. The filigree tubular steel frame gives the chair a modern touch and emphasizes the visual openness of the room. This transforms a functional dining room into a meeting place with character, characterized by materials that tell stories and a design that invites guests to linger.
