Messe Karlsruhe “Work Environments”
With the “Arbeitswelten” project, Messe Karlsruhe has taken an important step toward a modern and flexible working culture. Gerber Architekten developed a concept that transforms traditional office structures into a project-oriented environment. The implementation was realized using flush double glazing fecofix and flush aluminium-frame glass doors fecodoor A105, and posed an organizational challenge due to ongoing trade fair operations — one that was successfully overcome through close cooperation between all trades.
The new working environment intentionally comprises a variety of spatial zones: a Project Space for collaborative processes, a Team Space for daily exchange and spontaneous communication, a Community Space for informal encounters, and Inspiration Spaces that provide creative impulses and new perspectives. This diversity creates areas for focused work, agile project phases, creative workshops, and natural knowledge sharing. In addition, the newly created Community Cafeteria serves as a central place for breaks, interaction, and inspiration, forming the social heart of the workplace.
The new working environments represent a shift towards desk sharing, agile project areas, and individual retreat spaces, combined with generous communication zones. Awarding both system partitions and furnishings to feco enabled optimized interfaces, shortened coordination paths, and a particularly efficient project execution. The result is a work environment that promotes flexibility, connectivity, and a vibrant corporate culture.
