Flexible working environments for agile teamwork
Forterro Deutschland Abas GmbH specialises in developing ERP software solutions for medium-sized manufacturing and trading companies. The existing office at the Karlsruhe site was completely redesigned. Originally characterised by numerous cubicle offices, the increasing flexibility offered by home working led to the creation of a modern usage concept that focuses on openness and collaboration. As part of a pilot area, partition walls were removed to create spacious, open workspaces – known as marketplaces. These zones promote project-oriented collaboration and direct exchange between colleagues when they are working on site.

Together with feco, Forterro developed a tailor-made furnishing concept in a workshop. The result is a modern open space with flexible workstations, complemented by room-in-room boxes and focus areas. Differently designed meeting areas with lounge furniture, a work café-style communication lounge and mobile workshop tools such as whiteboards support agile working methods and promote creative exchange. A design highlight is the circular lounge, surrounded by high slats. The yellow carpet picks up on the ‘yellow dot’ from the Forterro logo and creates a visual connection to the company’s brand identity. The newly designed kitchenettes with comfortable seating also invite spontaneous encounters and informal conversations.

With its newly designed office, the Karlsruhe location has established itself as a pioneer and will serve as an inspiring example for the design of other company locations within the Forterro Group in the future.
