Think sustainably.
Build circularly.
Embrace responsibility.

Design, quality, and responsibility.

At feco, sustainability in interior design encompasses more than energy efficiency and material awareness. It is an expression of an attitude. From the origin of materials to energy supply and circular building concepts, feco demonstrates how design, quality, and responsibility can be integrated into a comprehensive approach.

Responsibility begins with the material.

feco processes wood-based materials from sustainable, FSC®-certified forests (license codes FSC-C125054). The company has been certified since 2015, and the entire supply chain is transparently audited (chain of custody). This proves that the wood comes from responsibly managed forests and is a permanently renewable resource.

Metals and glass are also used in a resource-efficient manner and are easily recyclable:

– Aluminum contains up to 90% recycled content from post- and pre-consumer materials, depending on the supplier.
– Steel contains around 30% recycled material.
– Glass contains approximately 25–35% recycled material.

Generally, the higher the recycled content, the lower the energy consumption. For instance, using recycled aluminum reduces energy consumption by up to 90% compared to using primary aluminum. Almost all of our systems can be dismantled by type and fed into high-quality recycling cycles. Our development department is working to optimize this process further. The result is durable, high-quality system walls that combine ecological responsibility and architectural quality.

We focus on energy-efficient production and regional thinking.

Since 2022, feco has purchased certified green electricity in accordance with Stadtwerke Karlsruhe’s “GoO Grünstrom” standard. Starting in 2024, the new production hall at Storrenacker will be supplied by a 350 kWp photovoltaic system, and additional systems are already in the planning stages for existing roofs.

– The heat supply also follows a sustainable approach.
– The feco forum uses geothermal energy via a geothermal heat pump.
– Wood production is heated with residual materials from our own manufacturing.
– An internal local heating network connects the buildings to each other for energy.

Our new production hall relies on high-standard thermal insulation (Efficiency Building 55 EE (NWG)) and modern, energy-efficient technology, including efficient frequency- and demand-controlled compressors, extraction with air recirculation, an energy-efficient painting system with a cross heat exchanger, and daylight- and presence-controlled LED lighting. Some existing buildings are currently heated with gas or oil, offering further optimization potential. We will develop sustainable solutions for this in the future. We are continuously working to reduce the carbon footprint of our buildings and production processes.

Healthy materials. Healthy rooms.

A room’s quality is reflected not only in its design, but also in its effect on people. That is why feco uses low-emission glues, adhesives, and water-based paints. The feco wall with an HPL or melamine surface meets the requirements of the Blue Angel (UZ 176). Variants with real wood veneer and water-based varnish comply with the AgBB measurement scheme for healthy interiors. These rooms are aesthetically inspiring and promote health and well-being. These rooms are a central aspect of modern workplaces.

Sustainability is in feco’s DNA.

feco system walls embody durability, quality, and circularity. They contribute to inspiring architecture that conserves resources. For Feco, sustainability means thinking ahead, acting ecologically, planning economically, and taking on social responsibility—today and for the future.
